The Milligan Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Kellie Brown, will celebrate the global nature of the orchestra repertoire with works from Austria, Norway, France, Italy, and the British Isles. This concert will include Grieg’s “Wedding Day at Troldhaugen,” Satie’s “Gymnopédie No. 1,” Rowley’s “Meditation for Organ and Strings,” and Moricone’s hauntingly beautiful theme to the Italian film, “Cinema Paradiso.” The great American music of Henry Cowell, William Hofeldt, and Douglas Townsend will also be performed. The highlight of the evening will be showcasing the ETSU Flute Studio of Dr. Brynna Paros as the orchestra’s featured guest artists. They will be performing works for one, two, and four flutes including Vaughan William’s “Fantasia on Greensleeves,” Rutter’s “Suite Antique,” and Vivaldi’s “Concerto for Two Flutes.” The concert finale will be a large flute choir performing Johann Strauss Jr.’s “Perpetuum Mobile.”
