About this Event
Welcome to Milk & Melanin Festival 2025! Join us at the South Side Sanctuary for a vibrant celebration that honors, uplifts, and centers the breastfeeding journeys of Black families. It marks the start of Black Breastfeeding Week with a joyful, empowering space that blends culture, community, and care. Through storytelling, support, education, and celebration, the festival strengthens connections, normalizes breastfeeding in the Black community, and builds a legacy of wellness and empowerment.
This event will:
- Uplift the community by honoring Black motherhood, acknowledging cultural strengths, and celebrating breastfeeding as a radical act of health and heritage.
- Engage residents through culturally relevant programming: live music, local vendors, storytelling, lactation education, panel discussions, and wellness activities for the whole family.
- Serve by connecting families to lactation consultants, doulas, healthcare providers, and mutual aid resources—many based on the South Side.
