About this Event
About the Workshop
Mechanistic modelling allows us to understand and predict the dynamics of fundamental cellular processes such as gene expression. This is often achieved by abstracting biological processes into a chemical reaction network that can be analysed using mathematical and computational tools. In this workshop we will cover theoretical and practical aspects of modelling gene expression in single cells, using deterministic and stochastic approaches. Starting with a simple model of mRNA transcription, we will gradually incorporate protein translation, chromatin and cell cycle dynamics, as well as spatial coupling between cells. As a particular focus, we will explore the effects of molecular noise in single cells and its contribution to single-cell heterogeneity.
Throughout the workshop, we will use the Julia programming language, an increasingly popular choice for scientific computing due to its performance and feature-rich package ecosystem.
Pre- requisites: Some programming experience (Python, MATLAB, R, C/C++, …).
Lead Instructors: Augustinas Sukys & Kaan Ocal
Please note that the $25 booking fee will be fully refunded upon workshop attendance.

Registration & Cancellation Policy
To secure your spot in a workshop, we require a nominal fee, which will be fully refunded upon your attendance at the workshop. This policy helps ensure commitment and allows us to manage resources effectively.
Cancellations Made in Advance: If you need to cancel your registration, you must notify us at least 72 hours before the workshop start time. In such cases, the nominal fee will be fully refunded. Refunds will happen within one week of the event.
No-Show Policy: If you do not attend the workshop and have not cancelled in advance, the nominal fee will be retained and will not be refunded.
Late Cancellations: Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the workshop will be treated as a no-show, and the nominal fee will not be refunded.
Illness or Exceptional Circumstances: Cancellations due to illness or exceptional circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis, and refunds will be provided at MIG's discretion.
This policy ensures fairness to all participants and helps us plan workshops efficiently. Thank you for your understanding.
