Welcome to the bizarre world of The Dream Portal, a night of short films taking you on a journey of whimsy, introspection & play. This international selection of experimental shorts explores feminist spaces, queer romance, food & altered states. Our lineup features films from Colombia, Czechia, France, Honduras, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the Philippines, UK & USA.

We’re delighted to announce that we are back at the wonderful The Bath House in Hackney Wick, for our Summer 2026 edition of MicroActs, and this time, we're taking over The Hall of their fantastic not-for-profit community hub in East London!

Join us on Thursday 21st May at 7pm for a FREE inspiring evening of experimental short films, each 6mins or less, from an international & UK based lineup of filmmakers. Whether you’re a film lover or filmmaker, a creative, or simply curious, MicroActs is a film night not to be missed!

MicroActs creates free/low-cost & accessible film events that showcase independent artists/filmmakers from around the world and champions the weird and wonderful. Discover the extraordinary genre of Artist Film in a welcoming space and connect with the MicroActs community. You can expect an evening of unique & unusual films that defy genre and create conversations; exploring diverse themes such as cultural heritage, personal experience, queer identity, political activism & the absurd. We look forward to seeing you at our second edition of the year and sharing a thought-provoking programme of shorts.

Please note, our screenings contain mature themes, and are recommended 16+. Please be advised that some of the films in this edition feature flashing imagery, thank you.

Our Short Film Programme will be presented in 3 parts of approximately 30 minutes in each section, there will be a 15min interval between programmes.

About the Venue:
The Bath House, Hackney Wick

The Bath House is a cultural and community hub based in a historic Victorian bathhouse in Hackney Wick, London. The venue brings together a café, event spaces, studios and community facilities to support a diverse ecosystem of artists, practitioners, local residents and small businesses.

Each week the space hosts a wide range of activities including cultural events, workshops, performances, wellbeing sessions, community gatherings and creative programmes. With thousands of visitors passing through the building regularly, The Bath House has become an active meeting point for the local neighbourhood and a platform for independent cultural production.

The nearest train stations are Hackney Wick overground station (0.5 miles), approximately 12 min walk. Routes from Hackney Wick station to the venue consist of level access enabled by dropped kerbs; however tactile paving/detectable warning surfaces are limited.

The nearest bus stops are:

Trowbridge Estate, Stop P, 40 yards. (Buses: 236, 276, 388) • Osbourne Road, Stop S, 120 yards. (Buses: 276) • Trowbridge Estate, Stop Q, 130 yards. (Buses: 236, 276, 388) • St Mary of Eton Church, Stop L, 0.1 mile. (Buses: 388) • Berkshire Road, Stop V, 0.3 miles. (Buses: 276)


Accessibility Information:

The café/bar space is wheelchair accessible via a platform lift. Please use the doorbell on the grey doors to the right of our main entrance to call a member of staff, who will bring the lift down and open the wheelchair accessible door.

The height of the bar is 103 cm. The menu boards are visible from this point. We have a gender-neutral, wheelchair-accessible toilet.

Once in the space, the Lounge and the Civic Classroom offer direct barrier-free access, while the Events Hall and the Garden are accessible via another platform lift.
