Absolutely. I’d make the Korean-style private rooms one of the main selling points because it makes this feel much more social and low-pressure than traditional karaoke.

Join Mixtape Sapphics for Mic Check: Take 2 on Sunday, October 4 from 5–8 PM — three hours of karaoke, music, drinks, food, and community.
This isn’t your typical karaoke night where you have to get on a stage and sing in front of a whole bar. We’ll have private Korean-style karaoke rooms, each with its own vibe. Pick a room, grab the mic, switch rooms when you want a different energy, or just hang out and cheer everyone else on.
You absolutely do not have to sing. Take a break between songs, grab food, have a drink at the bar, catch up with friends, or meet someone new. The whole idea is to be able to move around, mix and mingle, and make the night what you want it to be.
Come alone or bring friends. If you’re new to Mixtape or coming solo, we’ll help you get connected so you’re not left standing around wondering who to talk to.
Your ticket includes one free rail drink or non-alcoholic drink.
Mare is your host! A Filipino American and DC native, Mare is a traveler, photographer, music lover, and dedicated runner who’s always looking for her next adventure. She’ll be welcoming everyone and keeping the energy going at this event.

This is a community event, not a dating event — just a fun Sunday evening with queer women and sapphics, good music, good people, and plenty of opportunities to connect.
Sing a lot. Sing a little. Don’t sing at all. Switch rooms, switch vibes, grab some food, meet some people, and have a good time.
