Dydd Mercher 7 Hydref 2026, 6-7.30pm

Fel rhan o raglen gyhoeddus ein harddangosfa bresennol, MURMUR – arddangosfa unigol gan yr artist, gwneuthurwr ffilmiau ac awdur Anthony Shapland – rydym yn falch iawn o gynnal digwyddiad sgwrsio byw wyneb yn wyneb rhwng Anthony, y curadur gwadd Marie-Anne McQuay a Chyfarwyddwr Creadigol Tŷ Pawb, Jo Marsh. Gyda'i gilydd, byddant yn trafod themâu'r arddangosfa, gan gynnwys hunaniaeth 'queer' a dosbarth gweithiol mewn cymunedau gwledig ac ardaloedd ymylol (edgelands), yn ogystal â dynwarediad a rhith yn y byd natur a diwylliant, a'r ffyrdd y mae Anthony yn integreiddio ysgrifennu yn ei waith celf gweledol.

Anthony Shapland

Mae Anthony Shapland yn awdur ac artist o Gymru. Ef yw sylfaenydd a Chyfarwyddwr Creadigol g39 yng Nghaerdydd. Mae ei waith fel awdur ac artist yn adeiladu ar y syniad bod y byd wedi'i greu yn yr un ffordd â set ffilm – yn esblygu'n gyson ac yn dros dro.

Cyhoeddwyd ei nofel gyntaf, *A Room Above a Shop*, gan Granta; cafodd ei gydnabod fel un o'r 10 awdur nofel gyntaf gorau yn 2025 gan *The Observer*, ac enillodd Wobr Llyfr y Flwyddyn Gŵyl y Gelli 2025, Llyfr Cymreig y Flwyddyn Waterstones 2025, a Gwobr Llyfr y Flwyddyn Cymru (Llenyddiaeth Cymru) 2026, yn ogystal â chael ei gynnwys ar restr fer Gwobr Gordon Burn Trust yn 2026. Mae wedi arddangos ei waith yn flaenorol yn: Canolfan Celfyddydau Aberystwyth; Tate Liverpool (digwyddiad 'Late at Tate'); Amgueddfa Genedlaethol Cymru; Oriel Davies; Exeter Phoenix; Beef, Bryste; Crate, Margate; Union Square, Melbourne; Oriel Tanya Leighton, Berlin; a Chanolfan Celfyddydau Chapter, Caerdydd (2007).

Wednesday 07 October 2026, 6-7.30pm

As part of the public programme for our current exhibition, MURMUR, a solo show by artist, filmmaker and writer Anthony Shapland, we're delighted to host a live in-person conversation event between Anthony, guest curator Marie-Anne McQuay and Tŷ Pawb Creative Director Jo Marsh. Together they'll talk about the themes of the exhibition, including queer and working class identity in rural and edgelands communities and mimicry and illusion in nature and culture, as well as the ways in which Anthony integrates writing within his visual practice.

Anthony Shapland

Anthony Shapland is a Welsh writer and artist. He is the founder and Creative Director of g39, Cardiff. His output as a writer and artist builds on his sense that the world is constructed in the same way as a film set – constantly evolving and temporary.

His debut novel, A Room Above a Shop is published by Granta and is he one of the Observers 10 debut novelists 2025, also winning Hay Festival Book of the Year 2025; Waterstones Welsh Book of the year 2025; Literature Wales 2026 Wales Book of the Year Award, as well as Gordon Burn Trust Shortlist 2026. He has previously exhibited at Aberystwyth Arts Centre; Tate Liverpool LATE AT TATE, Liverpool; National Museum of Wales; Oriel Davies; Exeter Phoenix; Beef, Bristol; Crate, Margate; Union Square, Melbourne; Tanya Leighton Gallery, Berlin; Chapter Arts Centre, (2007), Cardiff.
