About this Event

Have you ever felt that you know what you want, but something seems to be holding you back? Or found yourself facing the same questions without being able to see a clear way forward?

Sometimes, the answers we are looking for are hidden beyond our conscious thoughts. Metaphorical Associative Cards (MAC) offer a creative psychological tool to explore our inner world, uncover hidden perspectives, and discover resources we may not have recognised before.

✨ Join us for an introduction to Metaphorical Associative Cards - discover how this method works, how images connect with our personal associations, and how the cards can help us better understand ourselves.

You’ll also learn how MAC differ from Tarot and oracle cards and why they are used as a tool for psychological exploration rather than divination.

🃏 What Are Metaphorical Associative Cards?

Metaphorical Associative Cards use images, photographs, illustrations, and symbols to help us explore our thoughts, feelings, experiences, and inner perceptions.

The same image can mean completely different things to different people because we each bring our own experiences and associations to it. The cards don’t provide ready-made answers or tell us what to do. Instead, they help us ask meaningful questions, recognise patterns, and look at familiar situations from a new perspective.

✨ What to Expect

1. Discover the Method

We’ll explore what Metaphorical Associative Cards are, how they are used in psychological practice, and why working with images can help us access new perspectives.

You’ll learn how to interact with the cards, recognise your own associations, and use reflective questions to explore your inner world.

2. Put Your Knowledge into Practice

The most important part of the workshop is the practical experience!

Working in pairs, you’ll practise a guided technique called Goals - Obstacles - Resources, exploring three key questions:

Goals: What do you really want to achieve?

Obstacles: What might be holding you back?

Resources: What strengths, opportunities, and support can help you move forward?

You’ll have the opportunity to practise working with a personal question, explore the associations that arise, and experience the method for yourself.

🌱 What Will You Take Away?

By the end of the workshop, you will have:

An understanding of how MAC work as a psychological tool and how they differ from Tarot and oracle cards.

Insight into how personal associations can reveal new perspectives.

Practical experience interacting with the cards and asking reflective questions.

An opportunity to explore your goals, potential obstacles, and personal resources.

Experience practising a structured MAC technique with another participant.
