About this Event
Menopause is a major life transition, not just hormonal, but physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. At Breathe.Move.Heal CIC, we offer supportive menopause yoga and wellbeing practices to help women navigate this phase with greater ease, empowerment, and self-understanding.
Anger & Irritability in Menopause: Understanding Your Emotional Changes
Have you noticed sudden anger, irritability or emotional overwhelm during perimenopause or menopause — and wondered, “What is happening to me?”
Changes in mood and emotional wellbeing can be a significant part of the menopause transition. You may find yourself becoming irritated more easily, feeling less able to cope with everyday stress, experiencing sudden anger, or simply feeling emotionally unlike yourself.
This practical and informative workshop will explore why anger, irritability and emotional overwhelm can become more noticeable during perimenopause and menopause, and what you can do to better understand and support yourself.
We will also look at menopause more broadly, exploring the different stages of the menopause transition, common physical, cognitive and emotional symptoms, and holistic approaches to supporting wellbeing during this stage of life.
During the workshop we will explore:
- The stages of perimenopause, menopause and postmenopause
- Common physical, cognitive and emotional symptoms
- Why mood, irritability and emotional responses can change during menopause
- Hormonal changes and their relationship with emotions and stress
- Understanding the nervous system and your stress response
- Recognising personal triggers and patterns
- Simple breathing techniques for moments of emotional overwhelm
- Practical techniques inspired by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)
- Holistic approaches to supporting emotional wellbeing
- Journaling and self-reflection
- Lifestyle, nutrition and everyday self-care strategies
The aim is not to tell women that difficult emotions need to be “fixed”, but to help you understand what may be happening, recognise your own patterns and develop practical ways of responding when emotions feel particularly intense.
There will be time for questions and discussion, as well as practical techniques that you can continue using at home.
Handouts and useful menopause resources will be provided, including information about menopause and emotional wellbeing, holistic approaches, nutrition and practical self-care.
This workshop is open to women experiencing perimenopause or menopause, as well as those who would simply like to understand and prepare for this stage of life.
No previous knowledge or experience is required.
This workshop is delivered by Breathe.Move.Heal CIC and funded by Feldy Community Center, Poplar HARCA.
