Learn to Give Your Clothes a Longer Life with Saywood founder, Harriet Saywood-Bellisario.
About this Event

Give your favourite garments a new lease of life with this intimate, hands-on mending workshop. Whether you've got a beloved jumper with a hole, a button that's seen better days, or a pair of jeans needing a patch up, this is the workshop for you.

Hosted by The Greyzine in partnership with sustainable fashion brand Saywood Studio, this small-group session is led by Saywood founder Harriet Saywood-Bellisario, who brings a considered, craft-forward approach to slow fashion.

What you'll cover:

● Darning — repair worn or thinning fabric so your clothes last for years to come

● Both practical and discreet stitching — close small holes neatly and quickly

● Button attachment — sew buttons on securely

● Hemming - repair your invisible trouser hems or use this technique to alter hems

● Decorative stitching & patching — turn damage into a design detail

What to expect:

A relaxed and calm atmosphere with space to ask questions and learn the skills to mend your much loved pieces. Maximum 6 participants means you'll get hands-on guidance throughout. No prior sewing experience needed, just bring curiosity and, if you have one, a garment you'd like to mend. All tools and materials are provided.

Workshop details:

● Date: Sunday 17th May

● Time: 11am - 1pm

● Venue: [VENUE NAME & ADDRESS]

● Price: £45

Who is this for?

Beginners and improvers, as well as sewing enthusiasts are equally welcome. If you've always wanted to learn to mend but didn't know where to start — or if you know the basics and want to build confidence with new techniques — this workshop is designed for you.

FAQs

Do I need any experience? No experience necessary. This workshop is designed to be accessible for complete beginners, with enough depth and skill to keep improvers engaged.

What should I bring? Just yourself! If you have a garment you'd like to repair, bring it along to get some advice on — otherwise we'll have practice swatches ready for you. All tools and materials are provided.
