Overview

Join RICS for an engaging CPD Breakfast Session designed specifically for APC candidates, graduates, cadets and early-career professionals seeking practical insights into one of the most important aspects of successful project delivery.

Led by industry experts from Turner & Townsend and Pinsent Masons, this session will explore the fundamentals of construction contracts, contract administration best practice, and the key risks and challenges encountered across building and infrastructure projects.

Attendees will gain practical knowledge on:

• Common construction contract types and procurement approaches

• The fundamentals of effective contract administration

• Managing risk and project obligations

• Strategies for fostering successful project outcomes and collaborative delivery

About the Speakers

Jason Veale

Jason is a Director at Turner & Townsend with more than 27 years of experience delivering major building and infrastructure projects across Australia. His expertise spans public sector portfolios including defence, education, laboratories and civic infrastructure.

As Turner & Townsend's National Government Lead, Jason provides strategic advice to clients at all levels of government and leads multidisciplinary teams through every stage of the project lifecycle, from feasibility and business case development through to project completion.

Passionate about collaborative delivery, Jason believes selecting the right delivery model is fundamental to project success, team alignment and achieving optimal outcomes for clients and stakeholders.

Elly Wallace

Elly is an experienced project and programme management professional and a Chartered Project Manager with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

With more than 15 years of experience across Australia and the United Kingdom, she has successfully delivered complex projects and programmes across a diverse range of sectors and project stages. Her expertise includes social infrastructure and heritage assets, where she has led projects within complex stakeholder environments to drive successful outcomes.

Elly is passionate about building high-performing teams, fostering collaboration and creating lasting value for clients, communities and stakeholders. She also serves as an RICS APC Assessor across the Project Management and Quantity Surveying pathways.

Lucy O’Dwyer

Lucy is a Special Counsel at Pinsent Masons, specialising in project delivery and dispute resolution for major energy, infrastructure and construction projects across Australia and internationally.

She advises clients on complex contractual and project delivery matters, helping project teams navigate risk, manage disputes and achieve successful commercial outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.
