led co-production and collaborative making
About this Event
Facilitated by artist educator Andrew Vaughan the session intends to explore visualisation and drawing as thinking techniques to create a ‘non precious’ collaborative paper based artwork.
Participants will initially explore the Whitworth’s ‘Performing Trees’ exhibition to collect individual visual and poetic inspiration that will be then used to create a collaborative artwork that reflects the collective creative consciousness of the group.
The experience aims to amplify the importance of play and creative flow in the overall making process. The afternoon workshop aims to champion the idea that the act of making is the overall purpose of artist endeavour with the outcome secondary to the overall journey.
Andrew Vaughan works at the Whitworth as Education Partnerships and is a visual landscape artist and poet based in Chester. His paintings and writing explore the atmosphere of landscape through expressive mark making and colour. Andrew is currently inspired by the dramatic scenery of North Wales, Cornwall and Italy and creates work to evoke mood and a sense of place.
Over the last two decades he has worked in a diverse range of educational settings as a creative consultant, facilitator and workshop leader specialising in whole school creative curriculum development, learning outside the classroom, museum and gallery education, pupil voice and reflective practice through learning journals and sketchbook methodologies. Andrew’s learning work aims to inspire adults and children alike to make meaningful personalised learning connections through a creative and reflective approach that ignites imaginations, innovation and curiosity.
