Join us for a warm and welcoming weekly gathering exploring Rumi’s Masnavi together, in person at Colet House on every Friday.
Each session will move gradually through the Masnavi, reading the stories and verses closely and exploring their deeper meanings, symbols, references and spiritual layers. Alongside the text itself, we’ll open up discussion around Sufi philosophy, self-knowledge, love, the ego, transformation, and Rumi’s teachings, with plenty of space for questions, reflection and shared conversation.
The atmosphere is informal and open. You do not need any previous knowledge of Rumi, Persian poetry or Sufism — simply come with curiosity.
After the teaching session, we’ll continue with an open discussion, and later in the evening there will be an opportunity to share dinner together with members of the dervish community.
On the first Friday of every month, instead of the regular Masnavi class, you’re warmly invited to join our Poetry Circle / Open Mic Poetry evening. Bring a poem of your own, a favourite poem, or simply come and listen.
The poetry gathering is followed by the dervishes’ muqabeleh — their traditional turning practice — which guests are welcome to watch. Afterwards, we come together for a shared dinner, music and dancing with the dervishes, often continuing late into the evening.
A space for poetry, reflection, conversation, friendship and the living spirit of Rumi’s teachings.
