About this Event
This Halloween, don't buy a mask. Make one.
Spend a Saturday afternoon in Bellevue painting a mask that no one else in the world will have. Bold patterns, deep color, cowrie shells, your own hands. You walk in with nothing and walk out wearing a piece of art, dry and ready for October 31.
No experience needed. Seriously.
A working artist guides every step, from the first pencil line to the final brushstroke, with patterns drawn from mask traditions around the world. If you can hold a brush, you can do this. Most first-timers surprise themselves.
Every seat does something bigger.
Amrita-Seattle is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working to break the generational cycle of poverty for utmost vulnerable at-risk children and youth in rural India. Our art therapy program gives kids a safe way to express what they can't yet say out loud, and it runs on supplies. Every seat you reserve sends art supplies to 10 of those children. You paint for an afternoon. They paint for a year.
