About this Event
This event will include a talk on Mary Shelley’s time in Dundee and its influence on her world-renowned novel Frankenstein. The event will feature the launch of a new website, Mary Shelley’s Dundee where you will find everything you need to know about the author's formative connections with Scotland, trace her steps in the places that stirred her “eerie” imagination, meet the people that mattered most to her, and discover modern creative works inspired by Frankenstein. The event will also launch a new comic, Mary Shelley’s Dark Tales, copies of which will be available for free at the event. Meet some of the artists and learn about the process of adapting Mary Shelley’s stories into comics! This event will be held in The Little Theatre and is open to the public.
This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 5-14th November 2026. Led by the School of Advanced Study, University of London, in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council and the British Academy.
