About this Event
Inner Sydney Voice invites you to the annual Marg Barry Memorial Lecture, held in memory of Marg Barry, a Sydney community activist, connector and provocateur who believed people affected by decisions should have a voice in them.
This year we explore navigating the changing vaccine landscape in our city: how misinformation and unequal access to trusted health information shape vaccination and wellbeing in our communities, and what community-led responses can look like. Drawing on ISV's vaccination and misinformation workshops, the lecture asks how we can build trust by listening as much as informing.
Our keynote speaker is Professor Julie Leask AO (University of Sydney), a leading researcher in vaccine communication.
The afternoon includes:
- Welcome and Acknowledgement of Country
- Tribute to Marg Barry
- Keynote interactive presentation by Professor Julie Leask AO
- A panel discussion featuring: Dr Anthea Katelaris (Public Health Unit, South Eastern Sydney Local Health District), Telphia Joseph (Deptartment of Health, Disability and Ageing), Leeanne Yap (Volunteer Community Peer Educator) and facilitated by Nicole Pigott (Central and Eastern Sydney Primary Health Network).
