About this Event
Join us for a two hour workshop in the Walthamstow Wildside Community Garden - behind Community Sauna Baths - on May 17 from 2-4pm (there is an identical AM workshop running from 11am-1pm with a seperate event listing).
For this local clay workshop with @bogbodyceramics we will be carving out vessels using the Japanese technique, kirinuki.
The blocks will be made up of wild clay I have foraged from East London and a white earthenware. From these, we will create bowls, chawans/yunomis, boxes...
The workshop encourages chance, patience, and imperfection. Making by taking away, not knowing what might be under the surface, accepting things as they are.
NOTE: There is an additional optional firing cost of £10 if you would like to keep your piece. This can be paid at the end of the workshop. Work will be collectable from the gardens after 1 month.
ANOTHER NOTE: Workshops will happen in all weather conditions! Whilst there will be shelter if necessary, we will still be mostly outside in the garden, exposed to the elements. Please dress for rain or shine, hot or cold :p
