About this Event
Through an extended collaboration, socially-engaged artist Emma Smith has worked with UCL researchers and community partners to develop Manifold — a large-scale public artwork and interconnected programme of live activities. This exhibition traces the artwork’s creation and the exchange of knowledge that has shaped it.
The project centres on the idea of “unlearning our ecological autonomy” — recognising that we are not separate from nature, but connected to and dependent on the plants, animals, people and environments around us.
To celebrate the opening, we'll be joined by performer, arranger, composer and flute specialist Carla Rees, who will perform at 7pm and 8pm. Carla will interpret and improvise a visual score that was made by Emma with local communities to map choreographies of airborne species.
