OUR LAST EVENT FOR 2026
Nau mai, haere mai ki Manawa Ora – The Foundations of Māori Healing and Bodywork.
Experience traditional Māori healing practices grounded in cultural knowledge in this 2-day Foundational workshop with Manawa Ora.
We invite you to reconnect with the wisdom of our tūpuna and explore the foundations of traditional Māori healing through a holistic, hands-on approach to wellbeing. Grounded in mātauranga Māori, this workshop provides an introduction to the principles, values and practices that underpin Māori healing.
Throughout this workshop, participants will be introduced to mirimiri and romiromi (Māori bodywork), exploring intention and connection in the healing process. We will consider cultural aspects such as whakapapa, tikanga, manaakitanga and wairuatanga.
The workshop offers a supportive space to learn, reflect and develop an awareness of how Māori healing traditions can inform our approach to wellbeing, both for ourselves and for those we care for. Participants will be encouraged to pay attention to their own bodies, deepen their connection with others and appreciate the responsibility that comes with engaging in the healing process.
Over the last 10 years, these workshops have welcomed people from all races and backgrounds. Wānanga/workshops are safe spaces for people to come together for the pupose of learning and healing, guided by tikanga.
At Manawa Ora, we believe that healing begins with connection – connection to ourselves, to one another, to our whakapapa and to the ancient knowledge of Rongoā Māori passed down through generations.
Whether you are beginning your journey into Māori healing or seeking to strengthen your existing understanding, this workshop provides a foundation from which to grow with respect, aroha and intention.
