About the Series
Every month, the moon disappears and we gather in that darkness, before the new light returns.
Mama Killa: The Dark Moon Rites is a six-month ceremonial series held at Four Arrows, a healing sanctuary in High Falls. Each gathering takes place on the new moon, at the most potent threshold of the lunar cycle: the moment before the light returns. We work with sound medicine, shamanic journeying, energetic cleansing, and the living wisdom of the land to move through shadow, plant intention, and emerge slowly, over six moons, from the depth of late autumn into the fire of spring.
This is community, not a course. You do not need to attend all six gatherings. Each ceremony is complete in itself and open to all who feel called. Those who travel the full arc from November through April will experience a deepening: a cohort of fellow travelers moving through the dark together. But every door is its own entry point.
Throughout the series, a living despacho (a sacred prayer bundle) grows at Four Arrows. At each gathering, every participant places an offering into the bundle: something that holds the medicine of that moon. Over six months, the despacho becomes a physical record of the community's collective journey: every release, every vision, every prayer offered in the dark. At the final gathering in April, the bundle is burned together as an act of gratitude and reciprocity. The land that held the journey receives the offering.
What to Expect
Each gathering runs approximately two hours, beginning at dusk and working into the dark. Ceremonies are held with the land at Four Arrows in High Falls, NY. Participants are asked to arrive on time and to leave phones behind once the circle opens.
Every gathering follows the same ceremonial arc, shaped by what each moon calls in:
- Breathwork to open and arrive fully in the body
- Shamanic journey guided by the medicine of the moon
- Journaling to catch and anchor what came through
- Sound medicine to integrate the journey deeply into the body
- The Misk'i (tea and something sweet) to land softly back together
The Misk'i (misk'i: Quechua for sweetness) closes every gathering. It is the return: the moment of community, warmth, and gentle re-entry into ordinary life.
Each participant also contributes to the living despacho that month. Bring something natural and small that holds the medicine of the rite. Guidance is shared upon registration.

Below is detailed infor for each ceremony:
Rite I — The Descent
Moon in Scorpio · Eve of November 8, 2026 · Sunday 5-7pm
The dark moon rises in Scorpio, the sign of shadow, death, and what lies beneath. We gather at the most potent threshold of the year: after the veil has thinned, in the final hours before the new light returns. The intention of this gathering is release. What have you been carrying that is no longer yours? What must be composted so something true can grow? Sound medicine opens the body. The land receives what we are ready to lay down.
Each participant places the first offering into the despacho: something they are releasing. A written word, a natural object, a symbol of what is ready to compost. The bundle opens.
This is the entry point. You carry in what you are ready to transform.
Rite II — The Vision
Moon in Sagittarius · Eve of December 8, 2026 · Tuesday 5-7pm
We gather three weeks before the winter solstice, in the last dark before the year turns. The moon in Sagittarius calls the archer, the seeker, the one who trusts the long journey. The intention of this gathering is direction. Before the light returns at solstice, we ask: what are you aiming at? Not the resolution, not the plan. The true target. The thing beneath the thing. Journeywork reveals what the mind has been too busy to see.
Into the despacho goes an expression of your intention: written, drawn, or whispered into a natural object. The bundle begins to hold the collective vision.
Come with a question. Leave with an arrow.
Rite III — The Bones
Moon in Capricorn · Eve of January 7, 2027 · Thursday
Deep winter. The land is stripped bare and so are we. The moon in Capricorn asks what remains when everything else falls away: the bones of who you are, the ancestral thread that runs through you, the structures in your life that serve your soul versus your fear. The intention of this gathering is clarity and foundation. Sound medicine descends into the deep places. We ask what we are truly building, and what we are ready to stop maintaining.
Each participant contributes something that represents what they are truly building. A word, a symbol, something gathered from the natural world. The bundle holds it through the winter.
The mountain does not rush. Neither do you.
Rite IV — The Dream
Moon in Aquarius · Eve of February 6, 2027 · Saturday 5-7pm
The light has shifted. You feel it even if the cold has not broken. The moon in Aquarius calls the visionary, the one who knows their life is not only their own. The intention of this gathering is dreaming: not personal ambition, but the larger vision. What you are here to contribute, what the world is asking of you, how your healing serves something beyond yourself. This is the ceremony of the dreaming body. What arrives is not a plan. It is a transmission.
Into the despacho goes an offering beyond the self: a prayer for another, for community, for the world you are here to help build.
You came here to build something for others. The dark tells you what.
Rite V — The Surrender
Moon in Pisces · Eve of March 7, 2027 · Sunday
We stand at the threshold of the great turning. The equinox is two weeks away, and the moon in Pisces, the last sign, the ocean that receives every river, asks one thing of us: to let go of the shape we have been holding. The intention of this gathering is dissolution and return to source. Not collapse, but the deliberate releasing of what is no longer needed before the new cycle begins. Sound medicine becomes water. We move into the mystery together.
Each participant places into the bundle something they are releasing into the mystery: unanswered, unresolved, offered without knowing what returns. The despacho receives what we cannot carry forward.
Arrive willing to be undone. Emerge lighter.
Rite VI — The Fire
Moon in Aries · Eve of April 6, 2027 · Tuesday
Spring has arrived. The land at Four Arrows is alive again, and so are you, if you made the journey. Even the goats know it: restless with the season, they carry Aries in their bodies. The ram's first fire, the spark of initiation made flesh. The moon in Aries is the warrior's return, the self fully reclaimed, the beginning that was earned through descent.
The intention of this gathering is emergence and reciprocity.
The despacho that has traveled through six dark moons, holding every release, every vision, every prayer offered in the dark by this community, is completed here. Each participant adds their final layer: their gratitude for what the journey brought, what they are carrying into the light. Then the bundle burns. Everything that was released, envisioned, built, dreamed, and surrendered rises in the fire. The land, and all who live on it, receives the offering.
What you carried in November, you offer back transformed in April. This is the ceremony of the beginning and of completion.
You went all the way down. You brought something back. Now, offer it.
