”Mama, Henry & Us Gospel Singers”, a feature film based on true life events. Story by Gail Everett-Smith. Screenplay written by Nikki Wade and Directed by Gail Everett-Smith, Nikki Wade & Trenton Lumpkin. This poignant story chronicles the lives of the Everett family gospel singers, from the mid 1960's to the mid 1980's, as they attempt to cope and navigate the "ups & downs" of wife & mother Mary's developing mental illness, that was triggered by the onset of early menopause. This gripping tale explores the dichotomy of the American Black family diaspora, as it relates to the stigma of mental health, versus the beliefs of the black church.
