The goal of mahjong is to form a complete hand, typically consisting of four sets (melds) and a pair, before the other players do. A set can be a sequence of three consecutive tiles in the same suit or a group of three or four identical tiles. Players take turns drawing and discarding tiles, and under certain conditions, they can use tiles discarded by other players to complete their sets. The game requires strategy, memory, and observation, as players must track which tiles have been played and anticipate opponents’ moves.
