About this Event
Ma is an independent singer/songwriter based in Charlotte, NC. Pulling from an eclectic blend of indie rock, R&B/soul, and country/folk influences, his style is defined by his distinctive vocals, high-precision guitar playing, catchy melodies, and politically-charged lyricism. In October 2024, Ma began playing his songs at weekly open mics. He released his first solo EP, Ghost, in May 2025, followed by a full-length live album, Ma - Live at The Evening Muse, in August 2025.
In the summer of 2025, Ma solicited the help of local musicians Timothy Chandler Hicks (drums) and Brett Ennis (bass) to record and perform live. They released their debut full-band EP, Fueled By Ma, in January 2026. They have since built a strong local following performing at historic venues such as Visulite Theatre, The Evening Muse, Snug Harbor, Petra's and The Milestone. They began performing as Ma & The Observers in July 2026.
