About this Event
LYNCHBURG, WHAT DOES WINNING LOOK LIKE?
A Community Conversation About Our Future
What does it look like for Lynchburg to truly win? And who gets to define what winning means?
I believe Lynchburg is a community filled with incredible people, untapped potential, and possibilities waiting to be realized. But building a stronger future requires something that we don’t always make enough room for: listening to one another.
Too often, we find ourselves separated by neighborhoods, political perspectives, religious traditions, and lived experiences. We spend time talking about what’s wrong with our communities without creating enough opportunities to imagine what could be right.
It’s time to change that conversation.
I’m excited to invite you to What Does Winning Look Like for Lynchburg?, an intentional community gathering bringing together faith leaders, neighborhood advocates, community organizers, and everyday residents to explore a question that belongs to all of us.
Why This Matters
As someone deeply invested in Lynchburg and currently pursuing graduate studies in Leadership in Spiritual Direction, I’ve become increasingly convinced that meaningful transformation begins with our willingness to listen.
Not simply to those who agree with us, but especially to those whose experiences and perspectives challenge our own.
I believe we can disagree without becoming divided. We can acknowledge our differences while discovering shared hopes for our families, neighborhoods, and future generations.
This gathering isn’t about promoting a political agenda or arriving at predetermined answers. It’s about creating space for authentic conversations, honest reflection, and collective imagination.
What to Expect
We’re bringing together a diverse panel of community and faith leaders to help us explore what success, opportunity, belonging, and progress could look like for Lynchburg.
But this isn’t just a conversation among panelists. Your voice matters, too.
The evening will include a shared meal, a moderated panel discussion, and an opportunity for community members to ask questions, share perspectives, and contribute their own visions for Lynchburg’s future.
Evening Schedule
- 4:30 PM: Doors open
- 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM: Community dinner and fellowship
- 6:00 PM to 6:30 PM: Transition and preparation
- 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM: Community panel discussion
- 7:30 PM: Audience questions and conversation
Our developing panel includes voices from local faith communities and neighborhood leadership, with additional participants being invited to ensure a broad representation of Lynchburg.
What Does Winning Mean to You?
Maybe winning looks like neighborhoods where families feel safe and connected.
Maybe it means better economic opportunities, stronger schools, thriving small businesses, or more opportunities for young people.
Maybe winning means healing longstanding divisions, ensuring historically overlooked voices are heard, or creating a community where everyone experiences dignity and belonging.
Whatever your vision, we want to hear it.
Because Lynchburg cannot truly win if we’re not willing to imagine a future that includes all of us.
An Invitation to Participate
Whether you’re a lifelong Lynchburg resident, a newcomer, a person of faith, a community advocate, or simply someone who cares about where we’re headed, there’s a place for you in this conversation.
Come ready to listen. Come ready to share. Come ready to imagine something greater than what any of us could accomplish alone.
And please invite someone whose perspective might be different from your own. That’s how meaningful conversations begin.
Let’s Imagine What’s Possible, Together.
I believe in Lynchburg. I believe in its people. And I believe our greatest strength isn’t found in everyone thinking alike, but in our willingness to work together despite our differences.
This is more than a community event. It’s an opportunity to begin building relationships, understanding, and a shared vision for what comes next.
So, Lynchburg, what does winning look like?
Let’s discover that together.
With gratitude and hope,
Gerald Griffin
