Biographies
Lauded as “rising young talent” (Caisse d’Epargne Côte d’Azur), French cellist Lisa Dolgouchine made her solo debut at age 17 with the Orchestre du Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional d’Aix-en-Provence and has since made appearances within the Orchestre de Chambre de Marseille, Festival de Pâques in Aix-en-Provence, Marylebone Music Festival in London, Festival Rued Langgaard in Denmark and collaborated with the Birmingham Royal Ballet Sinfonia, Rehearsal Orchestra, Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, Orion Orchestra, London Classical Choir, Innova Orchestra and Orlando Orchestra.
Lisa has performed as principal and co-principal cellist with high-level orchestras at renowned venues such as Aldeburgh’s Snape Maltings, Cadogan Hall in London and in the National Theater of La Criée in her hometown Marseille. A recent highlight has been her solo in acclaimed performance of Brahms’ Piano Concerto No. 2 with Misha Kaploukhi and Martyn Brabbin when leading the cello section of RCM Philharmonic in Amaryllis Fleming Concert Hall. She was a member of the Orchestre Français des Jeunes (National Youth Orchestra) for two year, with which she has toured in Europe (Festival Rued Langgaard in Denmark, Young Euro Classics in Berlin Konzerthaus) and played in exceptional venues such as Paris Philharmonie and Dijon National Opera under the baton of Michael Schønwandt and Kristiina Poska. The following year, she joined the New Generation Symphony Orchestra trained by O/Modernt Chamber Ensemble for a tour from Stockholm (Queen Sylvia Hall) to Berlin Young Euro Classics once again.
Lisa is equally at home on the concert platform as recitalist, within leading youth orchestras, or sharing the intimacy of chamber music within her trio and quartet, with concerts at the Austrian Cultural Forum, St Mary Abbots Church or RCM Museum. A dedicated chamber musician, she co-founded the Chiarina Piano Trio, an all-female ensemble promoting underplayed repertoire. This year, they have been invited by the RCM to play Berstein Piano Trio as part of the Chamber Spotlight series The Salon in the Dark, scheduled for October.
Passionate about contemporary music, Lisa has premiered works by emerging composers such as Connie Harris with SKIN (performed at the RCM Festiv’All) and recorded many film soundtracks, including from the award-winning short film Olga’s Eyes (2023). She is also committed to collaboration between musicians and outreach, mentoring young musicians in London and engaging in cultural mediation projects with the Orchestre Français des Jeunesall around France, and founded last year the RCM Society Mock Performance Club.
Lisa studied with Frédéric Lagarde (Conservatoire Darius Milhaud), Raphael Wallfisch, and Gemma Rosefield (Royal College of Music). Additional studies include masterclasses with Tim Walden, Marc Coppey, Denis Brott, Brian O’Kane, Mats Lidström, Edward King, Andrew Schulman, Xavier Gagnepain, Francis Gouton & Leonid Gorokhov.
Lisa is generously supported by an RCM scholarship, and recently by the Caisse d’Epargne Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur through the Association Talents et Violon’celles in Paris. She performs on a cello by Bronek Cison, made in 1995 in Chicago.
