🔥 SPECIAL GUEST ANNOUNCEMENT: SHARRIF SIMMONS (NYC)!We're thrilled to announce that Sharrif Simmons, New York spoken word poet, musician and member of the legendary The Last Poets, will join Lucid Lucia on stage at Sounds Jazz Club!
With over three decades of artistic expression, Simmons is a powerful voice at the crossroads of poetry, music and social activism. Rooted in Harlem's cultural heritage, he emerged from New York's poetry scene in the 1990s, performing at iconic venues such as the Nuyorican Poets Cafe and CBGB's.
Known for his politically conscious poetry and rhythmic delivery, often compared to Gil Scott-Heron, he gained international recognition through HBO's Def Poetry Jam. In 2023, he joined The Last Poets, pioneers of spoken word and a major influence on the birth of hip-hop.
Also a member of the international jazz collective BLACK LIVES, Simmons bridges poetry, jazz, hip-hop and activism. His collaborations with Belgian artists, including DJ Grazzhoppa, make this appearance even more special.
