Scottish fiddler and visual artist Louise Bichan grew up in the remote and culturally rich Orkney Islands, where music has been part of the social fabric for centuries. Her music draws deeply from that heritage, weaving together traditional tunes, folk tales, and original compositions with stories of people, nature, and the mysterious world around us.Louise’s new album Binnorie explores the traditions and folklore of Samhain, with songs and stories of trowies, sea serpents, selkies, and other creatures from the Scottish Isles. The album, released just one week before this performance, grew out of Louise’s All Hallows’ Eve live show, which audiences embraced during her 2025 tour. This fall, she brings the music back to the stage with her full band, featuring Ethan Setiawan on mandolins, Brendan Hearn on cello, and Conor Hearn on guitar.
Thoughtful, playful, and full of the magic of the Scottish Isles, Louise’s music is a wonderful blend of old stories and new sounds.
