About this Event
Trauma, the Brain & Recovery: A 6-Hour In-Person Training in London
A certificate of attendance will be issued for 6 CPD hours. Everyone interested in the subject is welcome. This course is quality-checked by .
This course counts 6 hours of study towards our 18-hour Trauma-Informed Certification.
The remainder trauma-related courses are below and can be taken in no particular order:
Understand trauma. Support recovery. Change how healing makes sense.
Trauma affects people in deeply personal and often confusing ways.
For some, it shows up as anxiety, shutdown, or emotional overwhelm.
For others, it disrupts memory, relationships, identity, and the ability to feel safe — even long after the event has passed.
What many people don’t realise is this:
These reactions are not signs of weakness or failure.
They are signs of a nervous system that has learned to survive.
Trauma, the Brain & Recovery is a powerful, in-person training designed to help you understand why trauma affects people the way it does — and how recovery actually works when the nervous system is approached with safety, compassion, and science.
This is not about reliving the past.
It’s about understanding what’s happening now — and what can change.
Who This Training Is For
This course is intentionally designed to welcome a wide range of people, including:
- Trauma survivors seeking clarity and reassurance
- Therapists, counsellors, and mental-health professionals
- Coaches, support workers, and frontline practitioners
- Teachers, healthcare professionals, and youth workers
- Partners, family members, and supporters
- Anyone who wants to understand trauma properly — without jargon or blame
No pressure to share.
No expectation to disclose personal experiences.
This is a safe, trauma-informed learning space.
What You’ll Gain From the Day
Rather than overwhelming you with theory, this training focuses on understanding, insight, and practical application.
By the end of the session, you will:
- Gain a clear, compassionate understanding of trauma and why it affects people differently
- Understand how traumatic stress impacts the brain and nervous system — without being pathologising
- Recognise why certain reactions, patterns, and symptoms persist long after danger has passed
- Learn how recovery unfolds when safety comes first
- Be introduced to a clear, step-by-step recovery framework that can be used personally or professionally
- Leave with a deeper sense of confidence when supporting yourself or others
This is about seeing trauma through a new lens — one that replaces confusion and self-blame with understanding and possibility.
The T.R.A.U.M.A. Recovery Framework
A core part of the training is an introduction to the T.R.A.U.M.A. Recovery Framework — a structured, trauma-informed pathway that supports healing without rushing or re-traumatising.
The framework offers:
- A way to think about recovery in clear stages, not quick fixes
- Guidance for rebuilding safety, support, and regulation
- A model that works for survivors, practitioners, and supporters alike
- A practical lens that can be returned to long after the training ends
You won’t just leave with information — you’ll leave with a map.
What Makes This Training Different
This is not a surface-level trauma talk.
It is:
- grounded in neuroscience, without being overwhelming
- trauma-informed, not trauma-triggering
- practical, not abstract
- compassionate, not clinical
- structured, but human
It’s designed to help people finally say:
“This makes sense now.”
What’s Included
All participants receive:
- A comprehensive workbook to support reflection and integration
- Printable handouts for continued learning
- Access to guided somatic meditations and nervous-system resources
- Tools you can return to at your own pace
The learning doesn’t stop when the day ends.
Certification Pathway (Optional)
This 6-hour training stands fully on its own.
However, for professionals or practitioners who wish to deepen their trauma-informed practice:
- This course can also count toward our 18-hour Trauma-Informed Certification
- It forms one of three trauma-focused modules
- You can decide later — there is no obligation or pressure
It’s simply an option, not an expectation.
Why Attend In Person
There is something powerful about learning trauma work in the room, together.
This in-person London training offers:
- presence
- safety
- connection
- clarity
- space to integrate
Many attendees describe it not just as a course — but as a turning point in how they understand trauma and recovery.
If You’ve Been Living in Survival Mode
This training is not about fixing you.
It’s about understanding what your nervous system has been doing —
and learning how to help it stand down, gently and safely.
You’re not defective.
You’re not broken.
Your system adapted to survive.
Now it’s time to learn how recovery actually works.

Related Training: Understanding Trauma Across the Nervous System
Trauma does not impact just one area of life. It affects how the brain processes threat, how the nervous system regulates safety, and how the body responds to stress over time.
While Trauma, the Brain & Recovery provides a foundational understanding of trauma and its neurobiological effects, some participants find it helpful to explore specific areas in more depth as part of their recovery or professional learning.
Depending on your experiences or interests, you may also find the following sessions supportive:
• – exploring the neurological and nervous-system impact of prolonged relational trauma and narcissistic abuse
• – examining how trauma and chronic stress disrupt sleep and how regulation can support restoration
• – a practical, neuroscience-informed session focused on regulation, grounding, and moving the body out of survival mode
Each session is educational in nature and designed to complement — rather than replace — the understanding developed in this course.

TESTIMONIALS: What Previous Attendees Are Saying...
"I really enjoyed this course and found the content fascinating! It will help me better understand my friend who has gone through childhood trauma, and I can also directly apply the methods outlined in the ‘accelerating the brain’s healing process’ to myself (am recovering from chronic stress and burnout so this was extremely useful!!)" Mimi M., Business Analyst
"Good course, comprehensive. Good to have so much detail about the brain mechanisms, dissociation and recovery. I am extremely grateful to Wale Oladipo for these workshops and resources." Alex W.
"Thank you for a truly informative and inspiring training day. I learned so much and would say that this is the best training that I have attended in a long time (and I have attended many), in terms of delivery, pace and content. I would not hesitate to recommend this training to anyone who wishes to understand more about Trauma, the brain and recovery. It stands out as Gold Star amidst the sea of training that is currently available." Shirley M., Teacher, Trainer & Therapeutic Counsellor
"Thank you so much for that amazing webinar. I am a trauma survivor and feel absolutely amazing after learning more about myself and doing those exercises – I will be doing them for the next 21 days without fail!" 😊 Claire Y.
"Really recommend the event to anyone interested in trauma. Presenter was great made the even easy to follow by using useful metaphors. I think there was the right amount of interaction to learning ratio and the sessions were really useful and informative." Jamie W. Education Mental Health Practitioner
"I thoroughly enjoyed today and have learnt so much as a newly qualified psychotherapist, so I would just like to thank you for holding this hugely enriching workshop. I have found it difficult to encounter training and development opportunities such as those offered by yourselves and will definitely be attending more!" Amrita S. Psychotherapist
"Changing the course to on-line was brilliant, especially with the current lockdown scenario. The course content was very insightful, with many useful resources and perspectives that other practitioners can find useful within a counselling context, combined with useful exercises that can help myself/other individuals to defuse the impact of stressful life events. I really enjoyed the course and felt refreshed and feeling I have more tools to add to my toolkit of therapeutic tools." Beverley R., NHS Counsellor,
"I thoroughly enjoyed the workshop and found your delivery and content captivating and insightful, both in a deeply personal way and in a very beneficial professional capacity. I was especially taken with just how accessible you made a complex subject with your explanations and analogies. As well as humanising it with your account of your own personal experience! That was particularly profound. Thank you for sharing! I am a policy developer for a UK police force and we are currently working to bring trauma informed practice into our service. I will certainly be advocating your work." Suzi G.
"Very useful and thought-provoking course with hugely insightful content, which can be adopted in practical ways to support client healing." Hollie P., Trainee Therapist
The webinar was interesting, informative, and gave me a lot to think about. I would recommend it to anyone who feels they want to tackle their trauma, as well as professionals working with those who have experienced trauma." Robin F. Artist Practitioner
"I thought the event was wonderful, Wale has so much passion and knowledge and made learning a pleasure. I would recommend this training to my colleagues, but it was also approachable for people with PTSD." Rebecca F., Dance Movement Psychotherapist
Would recommend the course / courses provided by Mindbody Breakthrough. Excellent content, delivery, knowledgeable facilitator and no travel due to being an online webinar, affordable prices too, what’s not to like!!" Carole C., Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
"Really useful & insightful I really enjoyed the details about the brain which I can use to help to explain to clients that I am working with. Grateful that we will receive the recorded session as it was a lot of information to take in." Katerina D. Assistant Psychologist
"Thank you for making this possible online. Going through it on my own pace it was more beneficial than attending face to face. Meditations are great. I am both a professional working with children with autism as a paediatric doctor but also a mum of an autistic boy but I am also a survivor of childhood trauma. I would like to know more about autism and trauma." Dr Andreea G.
"Thank you so much for an excellent trauma course today. I wasn't quite sure what to expect but it was fascinating and really useful. While face to face is always better the Zoom course worked well and it meant I could go for a quick run in the lunchbreak! I am a critical care paramedic on an air ambulance and I am also the patient liaison clinician, so support our patients and their families after their incident. I therefore have a professional interest in trauma and recovery. I want to be able to recognise when help is required for both my patients who have experienced trauma and my colleagues who have chronic exposure to dealing with it (but will never admit!) I hope that I can signpost them somewhere. I also have a personal interest as I was diagnosed with PTSD 2 years ago after much denial before the freeze response stopped me! I have also had a traumatic birth and so the postnatal depression chat was really interesting. Having had rewind therapy I was really interested to hear the neuroscience behind it. I loved the analogies to the CEO/security guard/filing cabinets and I feel I can use that to try to explain it. Thank you. I think my colleagues could benefit from this day and I will definitely look at your online resources and other courses." Kate A. Paramedic
"I’ve just attended (online via Zoom) a training day about Trauma and the Brain. I just wanted to write and say a big thank you to Wale. The course was excellent and I will definitely recommend to other colleagues and professionals. It was well presented and structured and gave me new information as well as reinforcing existing information. Trauma is an area i'm passionate about from a professional and personal point of view so Thanks again Wale - Amazing!" Heather D., Integrative Counsellor
"Really great – pitched perfectly with lots of the supporting science. Loved your metaphors which make recall much easier. Thank you." Emma F., Student Counsellor
I really enjoyed how the brain functions were explained, how the polyvagal theory was introduced and summarised. The course was very accessible to beginners and I enjoy that we have meditations to try." Krissy S, Trainee Therapist
