We are delighted to announce the 2026 spring symposium of the London Infection & Ecology Network, taking place on Monday 30th March at UCL's East London campus in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
Join us to hear about cutting-edge work to understand, monitor and tackle emerging diseases and their environmental drivers - particularly in a UK context - from mosquito-borne viral ecology to advances in genomics and pathogen surveillance. As well as excellent talks, as usual there will be plenty of time for discussion and networking over drinks and snacks (and a pub trip afterwards).
We have a fantastic line up of speakers, including:
- Dr. Becki Lawson - ZSL Institute of Zoology
- Dr. Mirjam Schilling - Animal and Plant Health Agency
- Dr. Rachel Abbey - UK Health Security Agency
- Dr. Raju Misra - UK Health Security Agency
- Dr. Marina Escalera-Zamudio - University College London

About LIEN: We are a network of researchers from several London institutions who work on the ecology, evolution and emergence of infectious diseases. We host regular meetings with the goal of better connecting people interested in the ecological dimensions of disease in the London area, seeding new collaborations, and creating a supportive peer network for early career researchers. To stay informed about LIEN events, sign up for our mailing list, and to find out more or get involved, get in touch at [email protected].
This event is supported by UCL's People & Nature Lab, an interdisciplinary research centre that studies how the living world supports human health and wellbeing, and turns that knowledge into practical action. You can find out more about PNL here.
