Starting university is a big step, and living with Sickle Cell can mean there are a few extra things to think about before you arrive.

Preparing for University is a practical session designed to help you think ahead and put the right support in place before starting university. We’ll explore areas such as healthcare, accommodation, Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA), disability support, reasonable adjustments and planning for your health while at university.

You’ll have the opportunity to:

  • 🏫 Explore what to consider when choosing and preparing for university
  • 🩺 Think about your healthcare and Medic*tion arrangements
  • ♿ Understand support available through your university and DSA
  • 🏠 Consider accommodation and accessibility needs
  • 📋 Identify reasonable adjustments you may want to put in place
  • 💡 Take away practical steps and resources to help you prepare

Whether you’re applying to university, have already received an offer or are getting ready to start, this session will help you identify what you need to think about before you arrive and once you’re there.
