Shirley is backed by Parlour Panther, a nonbinary-led indie rock band from Vancouver, known for their rich vocal harmonies, lush guitar tones, and spacey synths.
Shirley Gnome is a Juno-nominated comedian, songwriter, and clown based in Vancouver, BC and Montreal, QC. Celebrated for pairing folk, rock, pop, and country music with razor-sharp satire and powerhouse vocals, she has built an international reputation for witty, hilarious songs that are equal parts silly, provocative, and unexpectedly heartfelt. Her playful yet biting live performances have earned rave reviews and accolades across five countries. Gnome has performed at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Philadelphia Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, JFL Vancouver, and Winnipeg Comedy Festival, among many others. She has been featured on CBC Radio’s The Debaters, CBC Gem, and SiriusXM, and is signed to Comedy Here Often? Records. Her 2021 album, Decoxification, earned a nomination for a Juno Awards. In 2024, she made her television debut on the Winnipeg Comedy Festival’s televised gala performances.
Her latest album, Live Bare & Natural, was released on March 27, 2025, and features Vancouver indie-pop favourites Parlour Panther as her backing band. Since forming in 2014, Parlour Panther has earned critical acclaim for their infectious blend of dancefloor-ready grooves, heartbreak-soaked melodies, and unapologetic queer joy. Their lush harmonies and distinctive sound brought a new dimension to Shirley’s comedy songs, helping the collaboration rack up millions of views across social media. This fall, Shirley Gnome and Parlour Panther will take their beautifully unhinged comedy-pop spectacle on the road together for the first time, with more collaborations planned as the project continues to grow.
