About this Event
We are extremely excited to share with you the genius and simplicity of Roman-style pasta through a modern-day lens. We are going to teach you a foundational technique that will completely change the way you cook pasta at home. From there, we will introduce you to the Four Pillars of Rome - the ancestral bedrock of contemporary pasta making.
This event is part of our Masterclass Series, where we go above and beyond everyday cooking techniques. This series is designed to do more than just teach you recipes - we intend to unlock your passion and creativity in the kitchen by giving you a “behind the curtain” look at the why and how of Italian cooking. When you truly understand what is going on in your food, recipes become guidelines and the possibilities are endless.
What you’ll learn:
- The power of the mantecaruta - a technique as old as pasta itself, and the backbone of silky, glossy, roman-style sauces like Cacio e Pepe, Carbonara, and (traditional) Alfredo.
- Why less is truly more. Italian cooking puts far greater emphasis on quality product and technique than fancy tools and measurements. You’ll be amazed at how little you actually need to create restaurant quality pasta at home.
- How to unleash the flavor of your ingredients. Maximise everything and waste nothing. Pasta is the ultimate fridge-clearer once you understand how to utilize Roman ingenuity (it’s easier than you think).
What you’ll make: Friends and memories. This is a demonstration style class.
What you’ll eat: An endless amount of pasta:
- Aglio e Olio
- Pasta alla Gricia
- Carbonara
- Zozzone
- Bonus: Tiramisu prepared in house by the talented Lina’s team.
