About this Event

What to Expect

A calm, engaging, and inclusive environment designed with accessibility and sensory needs in mind. Sessions are supported by clear visual aids, respectful pacing, and consideration for individual sensory and practical needs.

Each session includes one-to-one support focused on building practical cooking and independent living skills in a supportive setting.

Session Activities Include:

  • Interactive cooking stations teaching simple, achievable tasks such as scrambling eggs and flipping pancakes
  • A supermarket simulation using visual shopping lists to support understanding and independence
  • Hands-on guidance tailored to each participant’s ability and confidence level

Our aim is to build confidence, encourage independence, and make learning practical life skills enjoyable and accessible for everyone.
Who is it for?

These classes are designed for Black SEND young adults aged 18–30 living in or near South London. No cooking experience needed – just come as you are. We have space for carers and support workers to attend free of charge too!

Where? Most events throughout August will take place at Peckham Levels.

About Lime Hut

From our street food pop-up in Soho to a kitchen residency in Peckham, Lime Hut has been bringing Caribbean flavours with a modern twist since 2016.

But our passion goes beyond the food. Through Lime Hut Helps, we create inclusive food experiences and mentor programmes that uplift young people from underrepresented communities.

Our Founder’s Story

Head chef Fi created Lime Hut with heart. Her younger brother Saul, who has autism, proudly serves as our Chief Tasting Officer. It’s young people like Saul who inspire us to make food more accessible, inclusive and joyful.

More than a Meal

By joining this class, you’re not just learning how to cook – you’re supporting a network of microbusinesses (over 75% Black and/or female owned) and a mission rooted in community, creativity and culture.

Spots Are Limited – Register Today!

Come join us for a warm, welcoming experience – where we cook, connect and celebrate every ability.
