L.F. MARKEY PRESENTS: A Christmas 'Woodland Wreath’ Making Workshop
with The Wylding Floral
Working with beautiful fresh and dried material gathered from The Wylding’s ancient woodland, you’ll be guided through a Japanese-inspired approach to wreath-making: twisting and braiding grasses, building in life and movement, layering evergreens, botanicals and scent. And, most importantly, leaving a part of the wreath ‘open’ to the possibilities of the coming year.
The Wylding Workshops are famous for their creative, playful approach that combines making with storytelling, folklore and symbolism. You are encouraged to experiment, find your own style, and create truly unique arrangements that carry both meaning and beauty.
You’ll leave this session with your Christmas wreath, a ribboned charm and a handprinted takeaway explaining the history and symbolism of wreathmaking (and, hopefully, a slightly different way of seeing what’s growing around you).
About The Wylding
The Wylding are forest florists, working sustainably from an ancient Kentish woodland.
They create wild, playful arrangements using foraged materials, flowers, branches and blossom (and what they call 'the unruly and wild bits’ you simply cannot buy). Their work sits somewhere between floristry and storytelling, rooted in place and season, inviting all of us to see the beauty and potential in the nature that surrounds us. They describe their approach as creating ‘flowers for connection, not perfection’ - each arrangement entirely unique to a person and their story.
