About this Event
Want to mend your own clothes but feel intimidated by a needle and thread? Still relying on others to sew on a missing button? This beginner-friendly, two-hour workshop is designed to sort you out!
As part of Sustainable Fashion Week, you’ll master essential hand-sewing basics step-by-step: threading a needle, securing your starting and finishing stitches, and sewing on buttons securely.
To put your new skills into practice, you will craft your own custom needle case using a selection of repurposed fabrics and materials. You’ll sew the main pouch, attach an elastic loop and button closure, and bind soft felt "pages" inside to keep your needles, pins, and safety pins safe. If time allows, you can personalise your creation with scrap fabric, decorative stitches, or your name.
This workshop is suitable for ages 16 +
