Learn jewellery repair techniques using sample pieces, or your own broken jewellery : mend a broken ring, repair a setting; fix a chain
About this Event

In this one day workshop you can use your own old broken jewellery, or some sample pieces we have available, to learn how to carry out jewellery repairs.

In the class we will explore the techniques used to repair jewellery including mending a broken ring; repairing a setting, and fixing a chain as well as a range of other common jewellery repairs that can cross a jeweller's bench.

If you want to bring a repair of your own, the jewellery suitable for use in this class includes sterling silver, 9ct, 10ct, 14ct and 18ct gold. Purchase of some materials to allow repairs to be completed may be necessary.

We will use traditional jewellery making and repair techniques adding to your jewellery making skill repertoire and revitalising old, worn pieces of jewellery.
The workshop will take place at The Studio at Millbank, Millbank House, Cumnock.

This class is not suitable for beginners. Class attendees must have basic jewellery making bench skill being able to use a jewellers saw to cut metal, use a soldering torch and use other hand tools within a jewellers workshop such as files and polishing equipment. All tools needed for the class will be provided for use in the workshop.

Lunch and refreshments throughout the day are included.

Suitable for those aged 18 to 94+, some previous bench jewellery experience is essential.

We will be in touch before the class to discuss what old and broken metal jewellery is suitable for this class.

Loose clothing should be avoided, closed toe shoes should be worn, if you have long hair it should be worn tied back and please remember to bring glasses if needed as we will be working with small objects.

Refunds are available up to 1 full week before the class (excluding Eventbrite's fee), no refund is available after that time. Contact the organizer to request a refund.
