Join instructor Lesley Bankes of Curvey Lines Art School at Upwards Art for a beginner-friendly introduction to realistic drawing. Drawing is a skill that can be learned and developed with practice, and this class will give you a strong foundation to continue building your skills.Lesley will guide you through the fundamentals of observing a subject and translating what you see onto paper. You’ll explore how to find and draw the outside line of an object, use shading to create form and depth, create realistic textures, understand perspective, and develop strong compositions.
Each topic will be explained in clear, easy-to-understand steps, with plenty of examples along the way. Worksheets and practice exercises will give you the opportunity to try each technique and become more comfortable applying it to your own drawings.
No previous drawing experience is needed. This workshop is designed to help beginners understand the building blocks of realistic drawing and develop skills they can continue practising long after the class.
Six weekly sessions on Mondays starting September 28. This class is specifically made for adult however children age 12+ are welcome to register with a parent.
Dates: September 28, and October 5, 19, 26, and November 2 and 9.
Time: 6:30 – 8:30pm
Please bring the materials following only if you have them: a range of pencils between HB to 6B, kneadable or vinyl eraser, stomp or tortillon, sketch book.
Enter through the rear door marked E5, with the large Upwards Art magnet on the door. Parking is behind Food Basics. Ring the doorbell if the door is locked.
