Now a 3-hour class!
Give your garments a new life by learning to darn! In this hands-on class, instructor Sivia will teach several darning methods to repair holes and reinforce weakened material in socks, sweaters, and other knitwear. These methods are also usable for other fabric repair but we will demonstrate and work on knitted fabric in class.
Mending is something we can all do; saving clothes from the landfill and healing our hearts in the process. Mending is a meditative, slow process that improves with practice, and it's a darn good time!
Please bring your items needing repair so we can assess the damage and decide on the best method to use. Practice garments will also be available during class.
Note on the date: this month's class is on a SUNDAY. Future classes will be back to our regular Saturday schedule.
What to Bring:

- Darning supplies if you have them, including:
- Scissors*
- Darning needles*
- Darning egg*
- Reading glasses, if you use them
*Repair PDX will also supply yarns, darning needles, and an assortment of darning eggs for use during class as needed.
Note on Sliding Scale Pricing:
Repair PDX seeks to both pay our instructors equitably and keep ticket prices accessible.
Not every event we run is independently solvent. We provide sliding scale, free tickets for volunteers, and other low cost opportunities because of our values. Thus, we rely on those with more financial support to pay the higher end of the sliding scale in order to offset the low-cost tickets. Thus, you will see a variety of ticket prices for the same event and we encourage you to pay what you can.
Proceeds from tickets go directly to paying our wonderful instructors, providing materials for the class, and continuing to host events and workshops like this one!
