In this interactive class, you will explore the art of Sashiko, a traditional Japanese stitching technique known for its decorative geometric patterns and practical approach to repairing and strengthening fabric. Whether you want to breathe new life into worn denim, repair a small hole, reinforce a thinning area, or add a unique decorative detail to a garment, you’ll learn how to combine creativity and functionality through hand stitching.
What You’ll Do
- Learn about the basics of traditional Japanese Sashiko stitching.
- Practice foundational hand-stitching techniques and learn how to create even and consistent stitches.
- Explore how to use Sashiko stitching to mend worn areas, reinforce fabric, and extend the life of your garments.

What to Bring
Please bring one garment you would like to mend or customize, such as a denim jacket, jeans, shirt, or other woven-fabric garment. A small hole, worn area, or blank space for decorative stitching is a great place to start. All necessary sewing tools and Sashiko supplies, including needles, thread, and practice materials, will be provided for the workshop.
Class Registration & Cancellation Policy
Refunds for the ticket price are available for cancellations made up to 24 hours before the event start time. Please note that Eventbrite’s service fees are non-refundable, so you will receive a partial refund equal to the ticket amount minus those fees.
