Walk Description:

A circular walk of approximately 4½ miles around the beautiful parks and gardens of Leamington Spa, searching for snowdrops and discovering interesting plants and trees along the way. From the station, we head to Victoria Park, walking beside the River Leam before continuing into Pump Room Gardens. We’ll pause near the information centre, where there are toilets and a small café, for a welcome snack. Crossing the colourful rainbow crossing, we enter the delightful Jephson Gardens, a Victorian gem renowned for its beautiful flowerbeds, 140 species of trees, lake, sculptures and sensory garden. We hope to find plenty of snowdrops along our route. If open, we’ll also explore the sub-tropical glasshouse. Our walk takes us across Mill Bridge, where we can spot the old, cobbled slipway where circus performer Sam Lockhart is reputed to have brought his elephants to bathe in the river. After enjoying more of the gardens, we return to the station, completing a lovely walk filled with seasonal interest, a bit of history and horticultural delights. Please bring a drink and snack.

Bookings for this walk will close at 06.00 on Thursday 28 January. After this, please email [email protected] to enquire about any late availability for the walk.

===================================================================

If you later find that you are unable to join us it would be helpful if you let us know by sending an email to [email protected] - this will be passed on to the walk leader and will prevent any delay to the start of the walk should the leader be waiting for you. Please note that some walks have a waiting list so tickets are NOT TRANSFERABLE; if you are unable to join us then please cancel your place to free it up for someone who may be on the waiting list rather than passing it to someone else.
