About this Event
Academic organisations have their own cultures, structures and ways of working. But does that also mean that leadership is different?
In this Roundtable Conversation, a small group of people working in academic organisations will explore the statement:
Leadership is different in academic organisations.
We will treat this statement as a hypothesis rather than a conclusion. Drawing on our own experiences and stories, we will look for evidence and counter-evidence.
What do we recognise as characteristic of academic organisations? What may be happening that we do not immediately see or consciously notice? And how might these less visible dynamics shape leadership, collaboration and decision-making?
And if leadership really is different in academic organisations, what does that mean for the way we lead — and for the way leadership is developed?
The aim is not to arrive at one definitive answer, but to look more closely, challenge our assumptions and learn from one another’s experiences.
The conversation takes place in a small group. Afterwards, we will continue informally over pizza and drinks.
