Sandra Proudman (she/her/ella) is a Mexican American young adult author living at the heart of California. Her full-length YA fantasy debut, Salvación (Wednesday Books), was a Kirkus and YALSA best of 2025 book. Her sophomore novel, THE END OF US (Joy Revolution), a dual-POV YA dystopian romance, will be out on 10/13/26, and is a Junior Library Guild Gold Selection. She is also the editor of the YA anthology, Relit: 16 Latinx Remixes of Classic Stories, which Kirkus called “an expertly crafted anthology.” And a contributor to YA horror anthology, The House Where Death Lives. In 2027, she will release her next YA fantasy, a Peter Pan retelling, LOST AND DARLING THINGS (Wednesday Books). She is also a literary agent at Gallt & Zacker Literary Agency. More fun news coming!
José Vadi is an award-winning essayist, poet, playwright and film producer. He is the author of the nonfiction books Chipped: Writing from a Skateboarder’s Lens (2024) and Inter State: Essays from California (2021). His short fiction appears in the anthology Sacramento Noir (2025). His work has been featured by the Paris Review, The Atlantic, the PBS NewsHour, KQED, Free Skate Magazine, Quartersnacks, Alta Journal, McSweeney’s and the Yale Review.
TOMAS MONIZ is a latinx writer living in East Oakland, CA. His debut novel, Big Familia, was a finalist for the 2020 PEN/Hemingway and the LAMBDA. His second novel, All Friends Are Necessary, won the 2024 California Golden Poppy Award. His new novel, The King of Aloe Vera, will be published September 2026 from Algonquin Books. He teaches at Berkeley City College, the Antioch MFA program and St. Mary’s College. He has stuff on the internet but loves penpals: PO Box 3555, Berkeley CA 94703. He promises to write back.
Maceo Montoya is an author and visual artist who has published books in a variety of genres, including four works of fiction: The Scoundrel and the Optimist (Bilingual Press, 2010), The Deportation of Wopper Barraza (University of New Mexico Press, 2014), You Must Fight Them (University of New Mexico Press, 2015), and Preparatory Notes for Future Masterpieces (University of Nevada Press, 2021). Montoya has also published Letters to the Poet from His Brother (Copilot Press, 2014), a hybrid book combining images, prose poems, and essays; Chicano Movement for Beginners (For Beginners Books, 2016), which he both wrote and illustrated; and Imaginative Possibilities: Conversations with Twenty-First Century Latinx Writers (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2024), coauthored with Javier O. Huerta, which won a 2025 American Book Award. Montoya is a professor of Chicana/o Studies and English at the University of California, Davis.
Emyly Cabrera Alba is a designer who has always been involved in interdisciplinary projects for local communities. From tactical urbanism to non-profit oriented work, she directs her studies in architecture towards the planning, design and development of community-led initiatives. She has won awards and honorable mentions in urbanism, research and writing contests in Sacramento, as well as in her hometown in Lima, Perú. She currently works in an urban design firm and collaborates with Casa de Español and the nonprofit Mil Mujeres.
