Spend a relaxed creative evening making your own professionally finished drum lampshade. Choose one of our Mustard & Gray fabrics or bring your own, learn the complete process step by step, and leave with a beautiful lampshade ready to use at home.
Join us at the Mustard & Gray studio in the Shropshire countryside for a friendly, hands-on Lampshade Making Workshop.
During this three-hour session, I’ll guide you through the full process of making your own drum lampshade from scratch. No previous experience is needed. You’ll learn how to prepare your fabric, apply it to the lampshade backing and finish the edges neatly for a professional result.
You’ll leave the workshop with a finished lampshade ready to take home and use.
This is a relaxed, small-group workshop with plenty of individual help along the way. Tea, coffee and cake will be available while we work.

Choosing your fabric
You can choose to make your lampshade using one of our Mustard & Gray fabrics, featuring our own unique designs, or you are very welcome to bring your own fabric if you have something particular in mind.
A selection of Mustard & Gray fabrics will be available on the day. However, if there is a specific Mustard & Gray design you would particularly like to use, please get in touch with me before the workshop. This allows me to check that I have enough fabric in stock or, if necessary, gives me time to have your chosen design printed especially for your workshop.
If you are bringing your own fabric, a medium-weight cotton or linen-style fabric works particularly well.
Want to make a larger shade?
You can upgrade to a 45cm lampshade for an additional £25.
Please contact me in advance if you would like to make the larger size so I can make sure the correct materials are ready for you.
Lamp or pendant fitting
Your shade can be made for use on a table or floor lamp, or as a ceiling pendant.
We’ll make sure you have the correct fitting for how you intend to use your finished lampshade.
Who is the workshop for?
This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and you don’t need any previous sewing, craft or lampshade-making experience.
It’s perfect if you would like to try something creative, make something completely individual for your home, or enjoy a relaxed creative evening with a friend.
