A Four-Part Beginner Series in October/Nov 2026Discover the creative possibilities of Procreate in this relaxed, practical series designed for complete beginners. Across four engaging sessions, you'll learn the essential tools and techniques needed to create your own digital artwork on the iPad.
Each session introduces new skills through step-by-step demonstrations and hands-on creative projects, helping you build confidence as you explore drawing, layers, colour, tracing, editing and digital effects.
Whether you're new to digital art or looking to make the most of your iPad, this series will provide a solid foundation and the inspiration to continue creating long after the course has finished.
For these workshops you will need an Ipad with Procreate installed. An apple pencil would also be useful but not necessary (bring your fingers). Please make sure that your device is fully charged when attending.
Session 1 – Thursday Oct 1st 10-12 Getting Started with Procreate
Become familiar with the Procreate workspace and discover the essential tools needed to begin drawing on the iPad. Learn how to navigate the interface, use brushes, select colours and create your first digital sketches while building confidence with the Apple Pencil and basic gestures.
Session 2 – Thursday Oct 15th 10-12 Layers and Creative Composition
Discover how layers transform the way you create digital artwork. Learn how to organise your work, move, resize and edit objects, use selection tools and combine images to build more complex compositions with confidence.
Session 3 –Thursday 29th October 10-12 Drawing from Reference
Explore how to use photographs as creative inspiration. Learn to import images, trace outlines, simplify shapes, sample colours and develop your own illustrations while discovering techniques for turning reference material into original artwork.
Session 4 – Thursday 11th November 10-12 Creative Effects and Finishing Artwork
Bring your artwork to life using Procreate's creative tools. Explore adjustments, filters, colour effects and finishing techniques before learning how to prepare and export artwork for printing, social media or sharing with friends and family.
