The Hunger Mountain Co-op Green Team is hosting a lacto-fermenting workshop with Beki Auclair, Chief Fermenting Officer of Vermont Fermentation Adventures! Lacto-fermenting and pickling are cost-effective ways to preserve food and reduce waste. Plus, lacto-fermented foods contain live, beneficial bacteria that can support gut health.During this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of lacto-fermentation and create your own fermented vegetables to take home.
What to bring:
Fall and root vegetables, such as carrots, turnips, radishes, daikon, and parsnips
A cutting board, knife, grater, and peeler
A wide-mouth quart jar with a lid
Don’t have everything on the list? The Co-op will have extra supplies on hand.
This workshop is free and limited to 15 participants. Additional registrants may join the waitlist and will be contacted if a spot becomes available due to a cancellation. This workshop will take place in the Co-op’s upstairs Community Room. Elevator access is available upon request.
