Join us for a free breakfast and good conversation at the Sioux Falls Labor Temple, 101 South Fairfax. We're meeting every second Sunday from 9 to 11 a.m. Drop in whenever, stay as long as you like. Family friendly. No registration needed.
This is a space for union members, workers thinking about organizing, and anyone who wants to help build the labor movement in the Sioux Falls area. Each month we'll have a short program covering labor history, how to organize a union, and how to grow and strengthen the unions we already have.
THIS MONTH'S PROGRAM
The Battle of Blair Mountain. In 1921, some 10,000 West Virginia coal miners took up arms and marched against the coal operators and their hired guns in the largest labor uprising in American history. We'll tell the story of what drove them to it, what happened on the mountain, and what it still means for working people today.
COPE Committee presentation. Our Committee on Political Education will share how labor evaluates candidates and issues, what's on the ballot that matters to working families, and how you can get involved.
Come and connect with folks who care about working people.
