About this Event
Discover kumihimo, the centuries-old Japanese braiding technique. Working on a round braiding disk, you’ll create your own cord strand-by-strand, which can be turned into a bracelet or keyring. Then uncover the logic behind the craft, using code to model how each strand moves between the numbered positions on the disk, according to a repeating rule. The two illuminate each other – code reveals the hidden pattern in the braid, while the braid gives you something physical to hold onto as you make sense of the code.

BIO: London Pattern Club organises workshops and activities around algorithmic creative practices – things that involve making, manipulating and combining patterns. This includes both physical crafts, such as knitting and weaving, and digital arts, such as live-coding.
