Kino Loop proudly presents Kino Loop Feature #21: Strainer by Gamid IbadullayevSTRAINER is a poetic journey through the hidden forces that shape a life. The Hero (Marcel Hugo) moves through five symbolic rooms, each reflecting a stage of life and inner transformation. Along the way, he encounters a woman (Anastasiia Riabokon), and together they navigate love and the process of change. Based on motifs, symbols, and archetypes from fairy tales, the film is an exploration of identity and transformation through self-recognition.
Working across painting, video, and sound, Gamid Ibadullayev develops an audiovisual language in which the image becomes a space of sensing rather than seeing, translating inner states into moving-image form.
STRAINER returns to the essence of silent cinema, blending visual storytelling with atmospheric soundscapes. Through its symbolic language and contemplative pace rooted in the tradition of slow cinema, the film invites viewers into a multifaceted, hypnotic world. In the live-screening format, it is accompanied by improvised music. Performing musicians include Anne Eding (violin), Gamid Ibadullayev (clarinet, flute), Jung-Jae Kim (saxophone), and Markus Leuthel (keys).
