Class Descriptions
If you have a creative child, this class is for you! This one-hour class teaches kids the basics of knitting. Knitting is an amazing skill for kids to learn, it helps with cross brain and fine motor skillz, gives their hands something to do, and creating something by hand is an amazing experience and something to be proud of.
During this class the kids will learn:
- How to hold the needles
- The knitted cast on
- The knit stitch with a fun rhyme
- Useful video links
- And pending students abilities they will also learn
- Cast off
- Increase and or decrease
Age Requirements
This class will be limited to kids 6 to 12
Class Requirements
Students will need to have a set of straight needles.
- Raven’s Nest has a collection of donated needles and yarns. The students are welcome to use and keep.
- Students are also welcome to purchase a yarn of their choice
- Recommended yarns, Cherub Aaron (acrylic), Cherub Aaron Print (acrylic), Cascade 220 (superwash wool)
- Patience and practice
About the Teacher
Lily Stevens has taught beginning knitting for five years at middle-school and high-school clubs. She currently teaches English at Coconino High School and knits, crochets, spins, and dyes in her free time!
