Gather with friends old and new for an evening featuring great wine, hearty hors-d’œuvres, and a scintillating conversation between New York Times best-selling author Abraham Verghese and our journalist in residence, Angie Coiro. We hope to welcome you to this convivial event that celebrates our reading community and provides critical support for Kepler’s Literary Foundation’s author event series and educational programs.
We are so fortunate that the Kepler’s community includes Abraham Verghese: a polymath whose compassion for and curiosity about the human condition expresses itself through the practice of medicine and the written word. A graduate of the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop, Verghese is the author of four books: the National Book Critics Circle finalist My Own Country; the New York Times Notable Book The Tennis Partner; the novel Cutting for Stone, which has sold more than two million copies worldwide; and the Oprah’s Book Club pick The Covenant of Water. He lives and practices medicine in Stanford, California where he is the Linda R. Meier and Joan F. Lane Provostial Professor in the Stanford University School of Medicine. He is the recipient of the National Humanities Medal of Honor (awarded by Barack Obama), and is an elected member of the National Academy of Medicine and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
Whether you are a longtime supporter or a new champion of our work, we hope that you’ll join us for this special evening to ensure that Kepler’s continues to convene world-class voices, illuminate the issues that matter most, and bring people of all ages and backgrounds together in meaningful conversation.
