About this Event
Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum celebrates its 125th anniversary this year. Opened with the 1901 International Exhibition and funded with profits from the 1888 international exhibition, Glasgow’s connections to colonialism played a key role in both exhibitions. Empire has played a key role in Kelvingrove’s foundation and history. This tour led by Nelson Cummins, Senior Curator will explore this history in the present day Kelvingrove through a tour of some of the current galleries and displays.
ACCESSIBILITY: This tour will involve moving around the venue and some standing around. Wheelchairs and portable stools are available to borrow. If BSL interpretation or audio description would be helpful please let us know. It can take time to book interpreters so as much notice as possible is very much appreciated. If there is anything we can do to make your visit more comfortable and enjoyable please don't hesitate to contact us to let us know.
